Shooting/Hunting
Achievements
Callie has been shooting and hunting since she was very young.
Shooting clay targets at her dad's hunting camp soon became an
obsession with her. Callie's dad, Danny, is a AA shooter, NSCA
instructor, Treasurer of FSCA, and the State Representative for
Florida to the NSCA. He has been her primary coach since she
picked up her first shotgun. Callie began shooting Sporting Clays
in 1994 as a Sub-Junior. That year she shot 1200 registered
targets. Her major wins for 1994 were Sub-Junior Champion at the
Coors Light Open in Pennsylvania and Junior Champion at the South
Florida Quail Unlimited Sporting Clays Tournament.
In 1995, Callie shot 3,500 registered targets. She shot the Coors
Light Classic in Factoryville, Pennsylvania, The Florida State
Shoot, the Zone 4 Shoot, Pennsylvania State Shoot, the U.S. Open,
and the NSCA Championship. Callie's major wins for 1995 were:
Ladies A-Champ at the Florida Ladies Charity Classic and Ladies
Champion at the Sporting Clays Magazine Wildlife Challenge,
Ladies and Junior Champion at the Coors Light Classic in
Factoryville, Pennsylvania.
In 1996, Callie shot 5,000 registered targets and has been chosen
to the NSCA All-American Junior 2nd Team. She has shot the
Seminole Cup, National FITASC Championship in Maryland, the Hayes
Lewis Foundation Shoot, and the Florida State Shoot. Callie shot
the Great American Shoot at Hopkins, Maryland, the Zone 4 Shoot,
the U.S. Open coming in 15th in the Ladies Division and 12th in
Juniors. Callie won the Ladies Championship at the Pennsylvania
State Shoot and 3rd in Juniors. At the Georgia State Shoot she
came in 3rd Ladies, and the NSCA Championship, Callie placed 9th
in Ladies and 11th in Juniors.
In 1997, Callie has shot the Seminole Cup coming in 5th for
Ladies and 6th for Juniors. At the Florida Winter Championship,
Callie won the Ladies Division and placed 3rd in Juniors. At the
first annual Caribbean Cup, Callie came in 2nd, to her idol Casey
Atkinson, in Ladies, placed 3rd in Juniors, and came in 5th in
"C" class.
Callie is a Life Member of the NSCA and NRA. Callie's best friend
among fellow shooters and her mentor is Casey Atkinson of
Georgia. She has taken lessons from Steve Middleditch, Gill Ash,
and Dan Carlisle.
Callie has been selected
to the 1997 NSCA All-American Team, Junior, Third Team.
